Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for an Astronomy Educator based in Guindy. The Astronomy Educator will design and deliver engaging lessons, workshops, and hands-on activities on astronomy, space science, and related STEM topics for school and college learners. Responsibilities include preparing lesson plans and learning materials, conducting classroom and outdoor sessions (such as sky observations and telescope demonstrations), and adapting teaching methods for different age groups and learning levels.
The role involves collaborating with academic coordinators to align content with curricula, maintaining and using educational equipment (e.g., telescopes, models, digital tools), and supporting events, camps, and outreach programs. The educator will also be expected to assess learner progress, provide feedback, and contribute to the continuous improvement of educational content and teaching practices.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Education and Teaching, with experience delivering concept-based learning in science, astronomy, or related fields.
Demonstrated skills in Lesson Planning and Training, including designing structured sessions, activities, and assessments for diverse learner groups.
Excellent Communication skills, with the ability to explain complex scientific concepts in an accessible and engaging manner.
Bachelor's degree or higher in Physics, Astronomy, Space Science, Education, or a closely related discipline.
Experience working with school and/or college students in classroom, workshop, or outreach settings.
Comfort with using telescopes, basic observational tools, and digital resources for science education (training can be provided where needed).
Ability to work on-site in Guindy, manage groups safely during indoor and outdoor activities, and occasionally support events outside regular hours.
Passion for astronomy, curiosity-driven learning, and promoting scientific thinking in a gender-neutral, inclusive educational environment
