About the Role:

The Assistant Professor of Mathematics will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in mathematics and related areas, including preparation and delivery of lectures, tutorials, and assessments. Day-to-day tasks include designing and updating course materials, guiding students in academic projects, mentoring students, and maintaining high standards of classroom engagement and academic integrity. The role also involves contributing to research activities, publishing in reputable journals, participating in academic committees, and supporting departmental initiatives.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Mohali district, requiring regular presence on campus for teaching, student interaction, and collaboration with colleagues.

Responsibilities:
Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in mathematics and related areas.
Preparation and delivery of lectures, tutorials, and assessments.
Designing and updating course materials.
Guiding students in academic projects and mentoring students.
Maintaining high standards of classroom engagement and academic integrity.
Contributing to research activities and publishing in reputable journals.
Participating in academic committees and supporting departmental initiatives.

Qualifications:

Strong foundation in core Mathematics and ability to teach a range of mathematical courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Relevant academic qualifications, typically a PhD or at least a Master’s degree in Mathematics or a closely related discipline from a recognized institution.

Required Skills:

Expertise in Applied Mathematics and related interdisciplinary applications relevant to science, engineering, or technology.
Competence in Statistics to support cross-disciplinary teaching, research, and data-driven problem solving.
Experience in Curriculum Development, including designing syllabi, assessments, and innovative teaching methodologies.
Proven ability to conduct research, publish scholarly work, and engage in academic conferences or seminars.
Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to diverse learners.
Commitment to student-centred teaching, mentoring, and inclusive educational practices.
Ability to collaborate with colleagues, contribute to departmental activities, and participate in university governance as required.

Preferred

Skills:

Experience in interdisciplinary teaching and research.
Familiarity with modern teaching technologies and methodologies.
