Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar  is one of the established higher-education institutions in Punjab focused on Fine Arts and other creative disciplines.

SUMMARY

The Dean shall provide strategic academic leadership and shall be responsible for driving academic excellence, curriculum development, teaching-learning excellence, faculty development, research, industry engagement, student success, regulatory compliance while fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, collaboration, continuous institutional development, ensuring alignment with the vision, mission, ethos and strategic objectives of Apeejay Education Society.

KEY

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Academic Leadership & Institutional Vision
Ensure alignment of all academic initiatives with the vision, mission, philosophy and values of Apeejay Education Society.
Foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, creativity and interdisciplinary learning.
Identify emerging opportunities in Fine Arts, Design, Visual Arts, Digital Arts and other creative disciplines.
Lead strategic academic planning and institutional development initiatives.
Support the Principal and Management on academic strategy and future academic growth.

Academic Governance & Administration
Provide academic leadership to all academic departments.
Ensure effective implementation of the Academic Calendar.
Oversee academic planning and scheduling.
Monitor teaching-learning processes.
Ensure academic discipline and quality standards.
Review departmental academic performance.
Coordinate academic meetings and review mechanisms.
Guide Heads of Departments in academic planning and execution.

Academic Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance
Lead all academic quality initiative and drive NAAC preparedness, strengthen IQAC.
Manager & coordinate academic audits and ensure compliance with UGC, GNDU and other regulatory requirements.
Monitor implementation of quality benchmarks, review academic performance indicators and promote continuous quality improvement.

Curriculum Development & Academic Innovation
Lead curriculum review and enhancement.
Benchmark programmes against leading national and international institutions.
Drive innovation in teaching methodologies.
Integrate emerging technologies within Fine Arts education.

Teaching-Learning Excellence & Faculty Development
Develop systems to continuously improve teaching quality.
Monitor classroom delivery and promote learner-centric pedagogy.
Encourage innovative assessment practices and facilitate academic mentoring.
Introduce academic quality benchmarks.
Lead faculty recruitment and academic selection and develop faculty capability-building plans
Identify high-potential faculty and promote research culture.
Facilitate FDPs, workshops and training programmes.
Encourage national and international academic exposure.
Develop succession plans for academic leadership.

Industry, Institutional Collaborations & Academic Partnerships
Build relationships with galleries, museums and cultural organisations and develop industry partnerships.
Strengthen collaborations with universities and design institutions.
Develop international collaborations and create opportunities for collaborative projects, promote institutional visibility.

JOB KNOWLEDGE / PREREQUISITES
Sound understanding of higher-education systems and academic administration.
Strong understanding of Fine Arts, Applied Arts, Visual Arts and contemporary art practices
Knowledge of current developments and emerging trends in Fine Arts and allied creative disciplines.
Familiarity with UGC, NAAC and university/statutory requirements, NEP 2020 and emerging trends in Higher Education
Regulatory framework governing Higher Education Institutions
Awareness of national and international Fine Arts institutions, exhibitions and professional networks.
Digital & Technology Integration

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
Essential
Ph.D. in Fine Arts / Applied Arts / Visual Arts / Design or an allied/relevant discipline from a recognized university/institution.
Master's degree in Fine Arts / Applied Arts / Visual Arts / Design or relevant discipline.
Preferred
Strong academic and/or professional record in the concerned discipline.
Significant contribution to research, creative practice, exhibitions, publications or curriculum development.
Evidence of national/international recognition in the field.

EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate should be an eminent academic/professional with significant experience in Fine Arts education and academic administration.
Minimum 15 years of teaching and/or research experience  at University/National-level institutions, including experience of guiding research at doctoral level, wherever applicable.
