Job Description & How to Apply Below
About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Coordinator to lead our Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) operations in Chamba district. You will be the eyes and ears of our health project on the ground—the person who knows what's happening in every village, understands community health needs, mobilizes people for health camps, and ensures our MMU delivers quality healthcare to remote areas.
This isn't a desk-bound coordination role; you'll be deeply involved in the field, building relationships with communities and government officials, organizing specialized health camps, monitoring health outcomes, and providing day-to-day leadership and support to the entire health team. If you're a health professional who combines technical knowledge with strong community mobilization skills and can lead a team with both compassion and accountability, this role is for you.
About the Project:
Our Mobile Medical Unit operates in remote areas of Chamba district, providing primary healthcare services, specialized health camps (eye, dental, women's health, etc.), health education, and diagnostic services to underserved communities. The project works in coordination with government health departments and aims to improve health outcomes in hard-to-reach mountain villages.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Management
Lead and manage the complete MMU project operations in Chamba district
Provide strategic direction and day-to-day operational oversight
Coordinate with all team members—doctors, paramedics, drivers, community mobilizers—ensuring smooth functioning
Set priorities, assign responsibilities, and monitor team performance
Act as primary point of contact for all project-related matters in Chamba
Make on-ground decisions to resolve operational challenges quickly
Ensure project activities align with organizational objectives and donor requirements
Maintain regular communication with program management and provide timely updates
Mobile Medical Unit Operations
Plan and execute MMU operations—scheduling routes, village selection, service planning
Coordinate logistics—medicines, equipment, supplies, vehicle maintenance, staff scheduling
Ensure MMU reaches target villages as per schedule despite terrain and weather challenges
Monitor service delivery quality—patient care, diagnosis accuracy, treatment protocols
Track patient flow, services provided, and health outcomes
Identify gaps in service delivery and implement corrective measures
Ensure proper documentation of all medical services provided
Manage inventory of medicines, medical supplies, and equipment
Specialized Health Camp Organization
Organize and manage specialized health camps—eye camps, dental camps, women's health camps, NCD screening camps, etc.
Coordinate with specialist doctors, visiting consultants, and technical experts
Handle complete camp logistics—venue arrangements, equipment setup, patient registration, crowd management
Mobilize communities for maximum participation in health camps
Ensure quality of services during camps—proper examination, accurate diagnosis, appropriate treatment/referrals
Follow up on camp outcomes—surgeries conducted, spectacles distributed, referrals completed
Document camp activities with photos, reports, and patient data
Community Mobilization & Engagement
Build strong relationships with village communities—Panchayats, SHGs, youth groups, community leaders
Conduct community meetings to understand health needs and concerns
Mobilize communities for MMU visits and health camps—through Panchayats, ASHA workers, announcements, house-to-house visits
Create awareness about available health services and encourage utilization
Address community hesitations, myths, or resistance to healthcare services with patience and cultural sensitivity
Engage men and women equally—special focus on reaching women, elderly, and children
Build trust and credibility for the project in communities
Government Coordination & Convergence
Liaise with district health department—CMO office, BMO offices, PHCs, CHCs
Coordinate with government health programs—National Health Mission, Ayushman Bharat, TB program, immunization program
