Senior Medical Coder

Location: Mohali

The Senior Medical Coder – Anesthesia is responsible for accurately coding anesthesia services using appropriate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes in compliance with payer guidelines and regulatory standards. The role ensures optimal reimbursement while maintaining high quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Review anesthesia operative reports and medical records to assign correct CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes.
Ensure compliance with CMS, AMA, and payer-specific anesthesia coding guidelines.
Identify and resolve coding edits, denials, and documentation gaps.
Perform quality checks and mentor junior coders, if required.
Maintain productivity and accuracy targets as per organizational standards.
Stay updated with annual coding guideline changes and payer updates.

Required Skills & Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of anesthesia coding guidelines and modifier usage.
Expertise in CPT anesthesia section (00100–01999) and time-based coding.
Good understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Knowledge of Medicare and commercial payer rules related to anesthesia services.
Attention to detail with high accuracy and compliance focus.

Qualifications:

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred.
Minimum 3+ years of experience in anesthesia coding.
Experience in hospital or physician billing environments preferred.
