Americares India Foundation has initiated a multistate project aimed “To reduce the spread of antimicrobial resistance in health facilities and to promote overall infection prevention and control in small and mid-size hospitals.”

General Description of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Clinical pharmacist:
The Antimicrobial Stewardship Clinical Pharmacist is a resource dedicated to enhancing the quality of medication use through antimicrobial stewardship. This individual works collaboratively with clinical pharmacists, medical staff, and other healthcare workers under the direction of the Antibiotic Stewardship Project Director

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform prospective and retrospective antimicrobial review, feedback, and (when indicated) intervention throughout Hospital
Participate in the development of infectious diseases-related protocols and order sets
Update infectious disease guidelines to improve antibiotic decision-support for clinicians relating to the selection, dose, duration, and monitoring of antimicrobials.
Collaborate with other members of the antibiotic stewardship interdisciplinary team to establish models and procedures to audit and provide prescriber feedback in order to optimize antimicrobial prescribing practices
Represent antibiotic stewardship to front-line prescribers and administrative leaders; actively contribute, and provide leadership in related committees, groups or initiatives relating to antimicrobial stewardship
Participate in the preparation of reports intended to document the impact of the program on quality, safety, and cost of antimicrobial use
Work to ensure optimal compliance with anti-infective related clinical pathways and guidelines (e.g. hospital-acquired pneumonia, surgical infection prevention)
Design and implement strategies and activities for enhancing performance in antimicrobial medication utilization
Participate in the review of requests for restricted antibiotic use
Participate in the conduct of didactic and experiential training of present and future physicians and pharmacists in principles of antimicrobial stewardship
Provide educational lectures

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm

D)

Experience:

Two years of Antimicrobial stewardship experience, and demonstrated ability to achieve positive patient outcomes in a hospital setting.
Candidates with experience of Quality control will be preferred.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:
Licensed Pharmacist or eligible to practice pharmacy in India
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to communicate clearly in oral and written form.
Extensive knowledge of drug products, medical therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, and disease states.
Ability to work with information systems, automated and technical equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with various members of health care teams
