Brief On The Organization

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health. PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research in core public health themes.

The Indian Institute of Public Health Hyderabad (IIPH, H) commenced with a mission to deliver public health education, pursue research and advocacy and support policy development. It lays strong emphasis on pursuing public health policy, practice, training and research, positioning its programmes according to the public health priorities of the state and the nation. The institute has brought together a highly qualified and diverse faculty of nationally and internationally trained and extremely motivated public health academics and practitioners.

The Indian Institute of Public Health Hyderabad (IIPH-H) as an arm of the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) aims to strengthen Public Health in India. The governance of IIPH Hyderabad is managed by a locally empowered society called the Institute of Public Health Sciences Hyderabad (IPHSH).

PANPREP – Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla Centre for Infectious Diseases and Pandemic Preparedness at IIPHH embodies the Institute's commitment to advancing infectious disease research. The Centre aims to serve as a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and translation of scientific knowledge into practical health solutions. It will bring together researchers, healthcare professionals, and young scientists to drive pioneering studies, adopt cutting-edge technologies, and strengthen India's capacity to prevent and manage infectious diseases of global concern.

Key focus areas include infectious diseases, zoonoses, antimicrobial resistance, air and water pollution, vector-borne diseases, and climate-health interactions as well as cross-cutting themes with focus on One Health: health systems strengthening, pandemic preparedness, disease surveillance, community engagement, and intersect oral coordination.

Job Requirements

Study Design and Execution

Design, plan, and conduct laboratory experiments, clinical studies, epidemiological investigations, and public health studies in infectious disease research.
Maintain accurate, well-organized records of all research data, protocols, and experimental procedures.
Ensure strict compliance with ethical regulations, laboratory biosafety standards and regulatory guidelines relevant to research studies.

Data Management, Analysis, and Reporting

Perform rigorous analysis and interpretation of complex biological, clinical, epidemiological and public health datasets.
Prepare research reports, manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, and presentations for scientific conferences and professional meetings.
Contribute to research grant proposals to secure funding for current and future projects.

Collaboration and Mentorship

Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary One Health teams, including animal, human and environment sectors to advance research goals.
Mentor and supervise junior staff, interns and students, supporting their skill development and daily research activities.
