Job Description – Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS)
Location:
Vedansh Super Specialty Hospital, Dadri
Reporting To: Managing Director / Board of Directors
Department: Hospital Administration
Role Overview
The Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS) will be the senior-most administrative head of Vedansh Super Specialty Hospital, Dadri unit. Acting as the operational leader, the DMS will oversee all medical and non-medical functions, ensuring seamless patient care delivery, regulatory compliance, and efficient hospital management. The DMS will be accountable for maintaining the hospital’s service quality, safety standards, and financial performance while serving as the bridge between clinical leadership, management, and operational staff.
Key Responsibilities
Hospital Administration & Operations
Take full ownership of day-to-day hospital operations across OPD, IPD, Emergency, ICU, OT, Diagnostics, and Pharmacy.
Ensure all departments work in coordination and synergy with clinical protocols and operational guidelines.
Implement hospital policies, SOPs, and quality systems in line with NABH and statutory requirements.
Monitor patient flow, reduce waiting time, and ensure world-class patient experience.
Lead the Emergency and Critical Care preparedness of the hospital.
Clinical Governance & Patient Care
Ensure strict compliance with clinical protocols, infection control, and patient safety norms.
Act as a liaison between consultants, medical officers, and paramedical staff.
Address escalated patient grievances and ensure a culture of patient-centric care.
Oversee medical record documentation and ensure timely completion of MRD compliance.
Human Resource & Team Leadership
Supervise and guide all doctors, nursing staff, and administrative employees.
Participate in recruitment, training, and appraisal of clinical and non-clinical staff.
Drive a performance-oriented culture through accountability and motivation.
Ensure rosters, duty allocation, and manpower utilization are done efficiently.
Financial & Resource Management
Support management in budgeting, revenue monitoring, and cost control.
Ensure optimal utilization of hospital equipment, consumables, and infrastructure.
Monitor and control leakages, pilfer ages, and unnecessary expenses.
Contribute towards achieving financial targets set for the hospital unit.
Regulatory & Legal Compliance
Ensure compliance with Clinical Establishment Act, Bio-Medical Waste, Fire Safety, and other statutory laws.
Oversee NABH accreditation process and continuous quality improvement.
Ensure adherence to medical ethics, legal obligations, and statutory reporting.
Stakeholder Management & Reporting
Report directly to the MD/Board on hospital performance, incidents, and monthly MIS.
Build and maintain relationships with consultants, vendors, government authorities, and medical associations.
Work closely with the corporate office to implement strategic decisions.
Key Skills & Attributes Required
Strong leadership and administrative capability.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to balance clinical priorities with business objectives.
Sound knowledge of hospital operations, accreditation standards, and healthcare laws.
High integrity, discipline, and ability to take ownership.
