About the Role Tivor Tech is looking for an experienced Medical Coder – ER & Pain Management with strong knowledge of U.S. healthcare coding, particularly Emergency Room, Interventional Pain Management, and Personal Injury (PI/LOP) cases.
The ideal candidate should be able to accurately review medical documentation, assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifiers , and ensure coding compliance with payer and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities Review ER, pain management, and procedure documentation for coding accuracy.
Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, E/M, and applicable modifiers .
Code ER services including imaging, laboratory, injections, IV services, and other documented procedures.
Code pain-management procedures such as ESI, TPI, facet injections, MBB, RFA, nerve blocks, and joint injections .
Review documentation for medical necessity, laterality, anatomical levels, imaging guidance, and procedure details.
Identify under coding, over coding, unbundling, duplicate coding, and documentation deficiencies.
Follow CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, NCCI, CMS, and payer-specific guidelines .
Support coding-related denials, appeals, and claim corrections.
Coordinate with providers and RCM teams regarding documentation and coding issues.
Maintain coding accuracy, compliance, and required productivity/quality standards.
Qualifications 2+ years of U.S. medical coding experience preferred.
Strong experience in ER and/or Pain Management coding .
Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, E/M coding, and modifiers .
Knowledge of NCCI edits, medical necessity, and payer requirements .
Experience reviewing physician and procedure documentation.
Understanding of U.S. healthcare billing and Revenue Cycle Management.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
CPC/CCS/COC/CIC certification preferred.
Preferred Experience Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:
Emergency Department / Freestanding ER coding
Interventional Pain Management
Personal Injury (PI) / Letter of Protection (LOP)
Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) cases
Texas healthcare providers
Coding audits and denial management
U.S. healthcare EMR/EHR systems
