About the Role

Medical Transcriptionist

Key Responsibilities

Transcribe dictated recordings from physicians, surgeons, and consultants including history & physical examinations, discharge summaries, operative notes, consultation reports, and diagnostic/radiology reports.
Review and edit documents for grammatical accuracy, clarity, and consistency with medical terminology and hospital formatting standards.
Interpret medical abbreviations, drug names, and specialty-specific terminology accurately.
Maintain and update patient records in physical files and within the hospital’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Identify and flag inconsistencies, incomplete dictations, or discrepancies to the concerned physician for clarification.
Ensure all documentation meets hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and patient confidentiality standards.
Deliver completed reports within specified turnaround times.
Uphold strict confidentiality of all patient information at all times

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Medical Transcription, Life Sciences, or a related field.
Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred;
Entry-level candidates with strong medical terminology training may also be considered.
Certification in Medical Transcription (e.g., CMT) is a plus.
Sound knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
Excellent typing speed and accuracy (60+ WPM).
Proficiency with transcription software and EHR/EMR systems.
Strong listening skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently under deadlines.
Sound understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection standards.
