Tax Manager, Tax Advisor, Tax Accountant
We’re partnering with an established CPA firm that has been serving Central Indiana for nearly five decades. Since opening its doors in 1976, the firm has built its practice around a straightforward philosophy: provide technically strong accounting and tax advice while remaining genuinely responsive to the people behind the numbers.
The firm primarily works with small, closely held businesses and individual clients, meaning this Tax Manager will have the opportunity to become closely involved in the businesses they advise rather than simply processing returns. We’re looking for a CPA Tax Manager who can combine strong technical tax knowledge with the client communication and judgment needed to advise owner-managed businesses.
Key Responsibilities:You’ll take ownership of a varied tax portfolio, working across individual and business taxation while providing planning and advisory support throughout the year. The role also offers the chance to review work, assist with complex tax matters, and serve as a trusted point of contact for clients.
- Preparing and reviewing federal and state returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates, and nonprofit organizations.
- Providing tax planning, projections, estimated tax advice, extensions, and research on complex tax matters.
- Responding to IRS and state notices and helping clients navigate tax authority correspondence.
- Reviewing financial statements and supporting compilation and accounting engagements where required.
- Managing client relationships and understanding the businesses behind each engagement.
- Reviewing staff work, providing guidance, and helping maintain the firm’s high technical standards.
- Active CPA license.
- Significant experience in public accounting, ideally at the Tax Manager level.
- Strong federal and state tax preparation and review experience.
- Experience with both individual and business taxation.
- Tax planning, research, and IRS/state correspondence experience.
- Strong understanding of the needs of closely held and owner-managed businesses.
- Confident client communication and relationship management skills.
- Ability to independently manage competing deadlines and engagements.
