Overview
The purpose and mission of the Purchasing Division of the Office of Finance and Management is responsible for the procurement of goods and services. We oversee the city-county bidding opportunities and vendor registration. The agency is able to do this by cultivating a productive, collaborative, and compliant work environment in order for our workforce to meet the needs of the residents of Indianapolis and Marion County.
This position is responsible for coordinating the transfer and disposal of city and county surplus assets. This position utilizes established policies and procedures which controls their actions. Incumbent will utilize limited judgment in the absence of established policies and procedures. Position reports to the Administrator Purchasing.

Position Responsibilities- Coordinates the disposal of city and county surplus assets with agencies, divisions, building authority, and vendors
- Collaborates with auctioneers to schedule, coordinate, and direct the movement of surplus items from various locations within the county
- Promotes the re-use of surplus items by notifying agencies and divisions of available items for transfer
- Prepares and processes sealed quotes utilizing fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of purchasing
- Verifies compliance with local, state, and federal requirements
- Maintains accurate records for auditing purposes
- Coordinates with OFM to ensure all disposed surplus is removed from city and county inventory
- Maintains an organized environment in the storage rooms and warehouse areas
- Utilizes city and county transposition and resources when available or may collaborate directly with moving contractors on large surplus removal projects
- Drive and deliver surplus items to auctioneers if necessary and meets with auction bidders to view and pick up surplus auction items
- Posts on-line auctions of surplus items and sets and determines starting bid value
- Receives auction payments and deposits payments to appropriate fund within 24-hours of receipt
- Determines when items should be deemed worthless in order to be recycled or disposed
- Must maintain confidentiality at all times

High school diploma or equivalent with four (4) years working in a warehouse environment. Must be able to exhibit effective communication, prioritization, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to collaborate well with a diverse customer base. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Knowledge of websites and Microsoft Office. Must be able to prioritize projects and meet deadlines.
