- Ability to relate positively and sensitively to children and parents.
- Evidence of emotional maturity and stability to be a positive role model.

- They shall be at least 18 years old.
- They shall have a high school diploma or have passed an equivalency test.

- Prescription labels
- First aid and emergency evacuation directives
- Menus
- Medical Information
- Special dietary information
- Intake information on children
- They shall have writing skills to be able to document the following:
- Accident reports and significant occurrences
- The time and administering of medication
- Diapering and feeding information
- The developmental progress of children
- All early childhood professionals who were employed as a caregiver prior to December 2, 1985, are exempt from the specific educational requirements for this position provided that his/her position continues as an early childhood professional at that childcare center.
- Maintain visual observation of children even in distracting environments.
- Stand for extended periods of time during program activities.
- Bend at the knees and waist as necessary.
- Lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 lbs. as required for program activities.
- Demonstrate and lead various activities effectively.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, school personnel, and staff.
- Reason, problem-solve, and make sound judgments and decisions even in noisy and active settings.
- Promote and adhere to safety and security procedures.
- Physically and mentally capable of responding to emergencies and administering CPR and First Aid effectively.
- To provide the children with a safe, positive, loving, and nurturing environment.
- To meet the children's needs in all areas- physical, emotional, social, and intellectual.
- To help the head teacher with new ideas for the program.
- To carry out appropriate and positive discipline as established by the head teacher. Teaching staff will never use threats or derogatory remarks or withhold or threaten to withhold food as a punishment or bargaining toll to change behaviors.
- To function and help build a supportive team.
- To maintain an environment that is safe, sanitary, inviting, interesting, and stimulating.
- To be polite, sensitive, and responsive to children and parents.
- Responsible for attending workshops and in-service training.
- To interact, initiate, and encourage the children in the activities during the day.
- To promote integral learning at all times to help children learn good social skills.
- To project self as a positive role model to children, parents, and staff.
- AM Shift - Open center at promptly 6 a.m. Vacuum carpet and bleach/clean toys.
- Make sure each child is signed-in and places personal items in his/her locker. Assist children to transition from home to school.
- Supervise and engage children at all times, including the restroom. EACH CHILD MUST BE IN SIGHT OF STAFF AT ALL TIMES.
- Sit with children at snack/mealtimes and initiate meaningful conversation. Demonstrate proper manners.
- Fill out snack and meal food charts.
- Attend to children and parents: help new families through morning procedures and take attendance. Engage parents in conversation daily.
- Have parents fill out medical form for medicine prescribed by a doctor for their child if to be administered by staff. Designated staff will dispense medications that have a prescription and form filled out by parents. Staff will record child's name, medication, time of dosage, amount of dosage, and initials of staff dispensing medication on master form. Master form must be initialed by a second staff member upon administration.
- Keep facility neat and uncluttered.
- Assist in circle time and center activities. Staff will be engaging and supportive of children and their accomplishments and positive choices.
- Set out cots and help children fall asleep for naps by rubbing backs, rocking, etc. Wake children at 2:45 p.m. and stack cots. Clean cots weekly,
- Designated staff will prepare p.m. snack. Finish food charts for the day and clean up after snack.
- Support teamwork by assisting Director, Assistant Director, and Head Teacher in preparations for the day. Restock supplies in classroom.
- Clean restrooms on designated days. Restock paper towels, toilet paper, and soap as needed.
- Supervise p.m. activities. Remind parents to sign out and check their child's locker. If an unknown person arrives to pick up a child, contact the parents to confirm access to child. Unkown persons MUST SHOW IDENTIFICATION.
- End of day- dust and mop floors, pick up center, check restrooms, clean mirrors, and water fountains, bleach all tables, pick up trash and take to dumpster, close all interior doors, check all exterior doors and windows…
