Responsibilities

A Wilhelm Layout Engineer performs construction site layout tasks to ensure the site is properly prepared for construction as well as continuously monitors the site for proper construction progression.

Duties

• Plan, set up, and maintain layout control for assigned construction project(s).
• Establish building corners and permanent reference points to allow back checks of building location and perform site, roadway, and utility layout and verify that installation of roadways and utilities are at proper elevations.
• Verify existing elevations are shown on drawings before constructing new roadways and utilities as well as researching and resolving drawing interpretations, problems, and errors
• Layout column center lines and wall locations and verify that exterior skin is not encroached by main structure. Plumb structural steel frame and check column alignments. Set and maintain benchmarks and control lines on each floor for use in layout and verify that workers are using proper elevations and control lines.
• Verify that all completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings, and specifications
• Perform as-built surveys to verify correct placement of work and to identify conflicts between items of work (i.e., where concrete slab edge or walls have encroached on the exterior skin), and may help maintain as built drawings
• Check slab for elevation and alignment during concrete pours.

• Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
• Trimble Business Center, SCS 900/Siteworks, Robotic Stations
• Total Stations
• Auto Levels/Lasers
• Trimble GPS/machine control and Accugrade Equipment experience preferred

• Meticulous attention to detail in order to be exact and accurate
• Ability to adhere reliably to a reoccurring set schedule
• Perform, with minimal mistakes, a routine set of tasks consistently
• Organizational skills and effective time management to succeed in a semi-autonomous, fast-paced environment
• Ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines
