Asphalt Laborer – Libs Paving at Libs Paving Company, Inc.

A skilled Asphalt Laborer-Lute Rake performs detailed, quality, consistent assignments in Lute Rake operations. Uses rake and/or lute to distribute hot asphalt and binder evenly over surfaces by raking and brushing material to correct thickness. Rakes out or breaks lumps, so that the surface is brought to the proper grade and conforms to the general contour of the surface. Performs basic asphalt labor safely and efficiently for the Libs Paving Team.

• Follows any and all direction from Libs Paving Management team as well as Superintendent, Foremen or Equipment Operator.
• Prior experience operating an Asphalt Rake/Lute on construction projects preferred.
• Rake asphalt to proper grade and finish before compaction.
• Match and finish freshly made asphalt paving joints.
• Smooth and adjust surface irregularities in asphalt to restore surface finish.
• Assist the screed operator with maintaining the grade and screed extensions.
• Takes necessary precautions to ensure job is being done in the safest manner possible. Is mindful of their personal safety as well as safety of coworkers and customers.
• Safely and efficiently operates rake/lute on paving projects.
• Safely and efficiently operates blower, saw, weed eater and compactor plate to prepare job sites for paving.
• Effectively communicates with other team members.
• Works as a Flagger to direct motorists away from the work zone as needed.
• Ensures site safety by installing barricades as necessary.
• Adheres to all safety rules established in the Libs Paving Safety Program.
• When driving company vehicles follows proper daily checklist and inspection procedures while completing documentation of same as required.
• Responsible for keeping truck interiors clean of debris while traveling to and from job sites.
• Maintains a high level of discipline and professionalism as a representative of Libs Paving Co.

• Valid driver’s license preferred with a safe driving record.
• Must pass drug test and keep COATS card valid.
• Prior experience operating an asphalt rake/lute on construction projects mandatory.
• Must be dependable with good to excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Construction industry experience knowledge or training preferred.
• Must be able to regularly lift up to 75lbs.
• Must be able to withstand various climate conditions including extreme heat and humidity.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
