Fire Restoration Manager - Service Master by FES Position Overview
A successful Fire Restoration Manager monitors, inspects and completes tasks for restoration jobs to ensure completion of drying, demolition, pack‑out of contents and various fire restoration activities. The Manager prepares and reviews documentation to include notes, photos and documents according to company policies and procedures to ensure reimbursement from insurance companies, as well as explains processes used to complete active jobs and next steps to resolution in person to customers.
Additionally, this role is critical for the success of a restoration company, as they are responsible for creating estimates in Xactimate utilizing the program guidelines and IICRC standards. They must be detail‑oriented and understand commercial and insurance restoration industry. A basic construction background that includes knowledge of building materials, flooring and other materials affected by wind, water, fire, smoke and other property damage causes will assist in being successful.
Xactimate experience is an essential requirement of this job; if you do not have experience with this software, you will still be considered if you have strong computer skills.

- Retrieves work orders, ensures appropriate equipment and supplies are loaded on the truck needed for the job, and arrives at the work site.
- Explains processes used to complete active jobs and the next steps to resolution in person to customers using printed materials as a guide with or without a supervisor.
- Completes assigned jobs according to company processes while maintaining quality control on each job with urgency.
- Performs fire/smoke damage repair and tasks to include water extraction, pack‑out of contents, removal/disposing of non‑salvageable materials, light construction and demolition as directed by a supervisor.
- Ensures equipment, supplies, vehicles, and products are properly handled and reports any equipment malfunction or damage to a supervisor.
- Inspects jobs after completion and obtains customer signatures for approval purposes, requesting payments when necessary.
- Responsible for making daily adjustments to the drying plan based on meter readings.
- Resolves issues with customers and communicates customer issues, daily job activities, with the supervisor and key company staff.
- Prepares documentation and pictures according to company policies and procedures to ensure reimbursement from insurance companies.
- Inspects and scopes jobs onsite and works with the Project Manager, Crew Chief, and Lead Tech on the scope of work.
- Documents loss with clear and descriptive job photos and uploads them into the operating system/software.
- Writes mitigation and reconstruction estimates using Xactimate and other estimating software.
- Communicates conversations and key information on the job using the notes feature in required software.
- Estimates using carrier audit standards and manages the estimate based on feedback from the client and customer.
- Communicates with the project manager/lead tech to ensure all required documentation is complete (photos, notes, and signed documents).
- Records drying activities using mobile software.
- Determines labor and equipment costs.
- Prepares accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing.
- Communicates with insurance companies and adjusters via phone and email in a timely manner and acts as a liaison.
- Manages all estimate documents and assesses project risks.
- Reviews quotes and estimates with the construction project team.
- Addresses estimate exceptions in a timely manner.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Experience in the restoration or construction industry is preferred, but not required.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- Good verbal, written, and communication skills.
- Good problem‑solving and customer‑service skills.
- Knowledge of disaster restoration industry.
- Must be able to prioritize activities and meet deadlines.
