Indy Star
, part of the USA TODAY Network, is seeking a part-time trending writer and sports clerk to help generate content and provide office help for one of the most successful sports departments in the country.
The position will report to Assistant Sports Editor Kyle Neddenriep. The ideal candidate will be willing to learn new skills, provide help in the office and handle writing assignments.

Key responsibilities:- Working with sports editors and individual journalists to activate Indy Star content strategies
- Working with sports editors to create great story optimization and approaches with content aimed at key audiences
- Helping around the office with organizational duties
- Handle key aspects of our print product's sports section
- An interest in journalism
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Solid news judgment
- Commitment to reporting with fairness, compassion and sensitivity
- Understanding of SEO and social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Tik Tok and You Tube
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members working in remote settings throughout the country and abroad
