Senior Pastor

Hopewell First Baptist Church is prayerfully seeking a full‑time Senior Pastor who feels called by God to serve our congregation. Located in rural Hampton County at 6404 Hopewell Road, our church is situated about five miles south of Hampton, SC.

We are affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention and the Allendale‑Hampton Baptist Association. Hopewell is looking for a pastor who meets the qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1‑7 and Titus 1:5‑9. The candidate must uphold the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. We prefer applicants to have 3‑5 years of experience in pastoral ministry and ideally hold at least a bachelor’s degree in Divinity or Theology from an Southern Baptist Convention seminary or an accredited university aligned with the SBC.

Worship Pastor

General Description

The Worship Pastor is responsible for fostering a culture of genuine, Spirit‑filled worship that encourages congregational participation and enhances spiritual connections. This role includes planning, coordinating, and leading worship services, as well as developing and supporting the worship and tech teams. Additionally, the position is essential to ensuring that all artistic elements are in harmony with the church’s vision and theological beliefs.

Duties

and Responsibilities Worship Leadership

Design and lead meaningful worship experiences each week, combining creativity with spiritual sensitivity to support sermon themes and the overall vision of the church.

Select and prepare worship music and artistic elements, which may include visual arts, drama, and multimedia presentations.

Conduct worship rehearsals, offering direction and feedback to musicians, vocalists, and participants in the creative arts.

Team Development

Recruit, mentor, and empower a diverse team of vocalists, musicians, and tech volunteers to build a thriving worship ministry focused on excellence and discipleship.

Create a collaborative and supportive environment within the worship and tech teams.

Organize regular meetings and training sessions to promote team development and foster creative growth.

Service and Event Planning

Work closely with the lead pastor and other church leaders to ensure that worship services run smoothly and that creative arts projects are in harmony with the church’s overall mission.

Lead worship during special events, conferences, and outreach efforts to extend the ministry’s impact beyond Sunday services.

Administrative Duties

Use Planning Center and other tools to enhance team scheduling, communication, and service planning.

Manage the budget for the worship and tech teams, which includes purchasing and maintaining musical instruments, supplies, and technical equipment.

Oversee the operations of the worship and tech teams, focusing on equipment maintenance and long‑term strategic planning.

Spiritual and Community Leadership

Offer pastoral care and spiritual support to members of the worship and tech teams.

Connect with the congregation to understand their worship needs and interests.

Encourage and facilitate community engagement through initiatives in creative arts and worship.

Innovation and Vision

Stay up‑to‑date with trends and innovations in worship, creative arts, and technology and introduce fresh ideas to the ministry.

Develop and implement creative strategies that enhance worship experiences and engage new audiences.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in music, fine arts, theology, or a related field is preferred.

Proven experience in leading worship and managing creative arts projects in a church or similar setting.

Strong proficiency in musical performance and an understanding of various creative arts disciplines.
