The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) in conjunction with IU Health Medical Group (IUHMGP), are expanding its team. The department is seeking to jointly recruit surgical pathologists subspecialized in Gastrointestinal pathology to join its faculty. Additional areas of experience or subspecialities are welcome.
The individual selected will be based at the IU Health Central Pathology Laboratory (IUHPL). The pathology team serves 10 hospitals within IU Health Hospital network and
The academic track and rank of the appointment will be determined by qualifications and level of experience.
Responsibilities
- Deliver professional diagnostic services within anatomic pathology
- Provide on-call coverage and conference support with department faculty members
- Actively participate in educational activities with medical students, residents and fellows
- Is academically oriented
- Is fellowship-trained and has at least five years of post-fellowship experience
- Is committed to teaching
- Has subspecialty expertise in GI pathology; additional areas of experience are welcome
- Financially sound department, which is in a stage of growth and expansion

- 150,000 square foot dedicated central laboratory building in downtown Indianapolis
- First class facilities including flow cytometry and molecular pathology laboratories
- IUHPL serves as the centralized anatomic and clinical pathology testing facility for numerous IU Health hospitals and affiliated clinics performing 15 million diagnostic tests annually
- Environment that provides the ability to collaborate with a diverse cadre of subspecialized pathologists
- Engaged in promoting innovation and excellence in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows
- Strong departmental support for translational research
Doctorate or Terminal degree is required. The applicant must be certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic pathology or anatomic and clinical pathology. Applicants must be qualified for licensure in the state of Indiana.
