Overview

Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis is actively recruiting three board-certified or board-eligible critical care cardiologists to join our nationally recognized and high-acuity Cardiac Intensive Care Unit team.

Position Overview

This role provides overnight coverage for our 32-bed CCU, which serves a diverse population of advanced cardiac and surgical patients. The program continues to grow and offers exposure to some of the most complex cardiac cases in the region.

Program Highlights
  • ~30 heart transplants annually
  • ~80 durable LVAD implants per year
  • ~30 VA-ECMO cases per year
  • Full spectrum of temporary mechanical circulatory support (Impella, Centrimag, IABP, etc.)
  • Implementation of a formal shock program
  • Pulmonary hypertension care integrated with advanced therapies
  • Robust clinical research programs in advanced heart failure, pulmonary hypertension and critical care
  • Team Culture & Collaboration
  • Physicians in this role will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that includes cardiothoracic surgeons, advanced heart failure specialists, interventional and general cardiologists, intensivists, perfusionists, and experienced advanced practice providers. The program emphasizes high-quality, patient-centered care and continuous clinical innovation.
Support Structure
  • Overnight CCU coverage is supported by a dedicated team of advanced practice providers
  • In-house CT surgery and ECMO support available 24/7
  • Access to subspecialty expertise and state-of-the-art facilities
Qualifications
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Cardiology and Critical Care Medicine
  • Proficiency in temporary MCS and hemodynamic management required
  • TEE proficiency preferred but negotiable
  • Experience or interest in pulmonary hypertension and clinical research is strongly valued
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Indiana
Schedule & Compensation

1:3 week rotation (overnight clinical coverage)
