Overview
Summary
Primary duties are to provide Primary Care services to a panel of patients as part of an interprofessional primary care team in the VHA Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model. The incumbent works as part of a primary care team and patient site care team members to provide primary care to Veterans.
Responsibilities- The primary duties of the Physician Assistant
- Primary Care position include but are not limited to:
Performing history and physical exams - and appropriately documenting noted findings and recommendations in the medical chart - as part of the Primary Care service - Provide and coordinate all medical and interventional care for assigned patients in any care setting - including establishing diagnoses - formulating and implementing care plans - writing orders - and follow up care coordination
- Ordering diagnostic studies such as labs - imaging studies - or any other appropriate diagnostic study deemed necessary for patient care
- Ordering consults to other services (ie anesthesia - oncology - surgery - cardiology - pathology - pharmacy - social services - etc.) for patient evaluation and management as deemed necessary for patient care
- Screening patients to determine the need for further health care
- Ordering or obtaining laboratory specimens
- Ordering patient care supplies
- Writing orders for or prescribing medications
- Provide education and counseling for patients and family members with regards to primary care needs - risks-benefits-alternatives - preventive care - medical conditions - and ongoing-future treatment plans
- Maintains patient records and files
- Follow HIPPA guidelines regarding patient information
- Other duties as assigned

- Pay:
Competitive salary - annual performance bonus - regular salary increases - Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave - 13 days of sick leave - 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
