Ridge Meadows Hospital (RMH) is seeking qualified physicians to join our well‑established and very busy Hospitalist program in a permanent (full time/part time) capacity. Applicants should have a strong interest in developing a permanent acute‑care hospital practice and working collaboratively with all members of the inter‑professional team, including medical staff, Nurse Practitioners, and Allied Health staff.
Primary Responsibilities- Admission and management of “unattached” patients as the Most Responsible Physician (MRP).
- Provide supportive care for some surgical and specialty medical patients.
- Work collaboratively with specialist and community‑based physicians to optimize patient care and discharge planning processes.
- Participate in quality improvement projects, committees, and academic activities related to hospital medicine.
- Engage in ongoing continuing professional development, including academic and CME activities relevant to acute care medicine.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
- Hospitalist experience strongly suggested; membership in professional hospital medicine societies is an asset.
- New graduates expected to demonstrate proficiency in hospital medicine through hospitalist electives and other relevant educational rotations during their training.
- Post‑graduate fellowship training in hospital medicine preferred.
Shifts:
10‑hour shifts (7 am–5 pm) Monday to Sunday. Evening admitting shift (4 admissions) from 5 pm–11 pm is staffed on a rotational basis and compensated at the usual hourly rate. Virtual evening shifts (5 pm–11 pm) and 9‑hour virtual overnight shifts (11 pm–8 am) are available to physicians who do day and evening admitting shifts. Scheduling is done three months in advance with preferential/flexible scheduling, not block rotations.
