Location: Indianapolis

Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health is seeking a compassionate, patient-focused Neonatologist to join our nationally recognized team in Indianapolis. As a leader in neonatal care, Riley Children’s treats more than 3,500 newborns annually across its Level IV and Level III NICUs. Our multidisciplinary team—comprised of board-certified neonatologists, advanced practice providers, and pediatric subspecialists—delivers comprehensive, lifesaving care that often begins prenatally and continues through the NICU stay and beyond.

We work closely with maternal‑fetal medicine, pediatric surgical and medical subspecialties, and neurodevelopmental follow‑up programs to ensure seamless, family‑centered care. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic academic environment where your clinical expertise, passion for teaching, and commitment to innovation will make a lasting impact.

This position will primarily support the Level III NICU's in the Community Health Network. The hospitals offer 24/7 access to in‑house Riley neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and a full range of pediatric subspecialists via consultation. A portion of the FTE will be at Community Hospital East. Recognized as one of Indiana’s Perinatal Centers and named "Best Place to Deliver a Baby" by Indy Star, the unit has received multiple awards for excellence in maternal and neonatal care.

  • Community Hospital North: 48 beds — including 42 private suites
  • Community Hospital East: 16 beds — including 14 private rooms and 2 mother/baby suites
  • Community Hospital Westfield: 12 beds — opening soon
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Serve as a primary daytime attending physician at Community Hospital North, Community Hospital East, and Community Hospital Westfield, all Level III NICU's in the Indianapolis metro area, with potential opportunities to provide coverage at other NICUs managed by the Division.
  • Participate in the high‑risk delivery service and provide consultation for high‑risk obstetric patients in the Community Health Network.
  • Night call responsibilities are an expected part of the role and include in‑house coverage during both weeknights and weekends.
Academic & Professional Engagement
  • Be an active member of the Division of Neonatal‑Perinatal Medicine, contributing to the education of medical students, pediatric residents, neonatal fellows, and advanced practice providers (NNPs and PAs).
  • Candidates with experience in quality improvement initiatives or the development of clinical guidelines to reduce variation in care are highly valued.
  • Opportunities for academic engagement and scholarly activity are encouraged. A faculty appointment with the Indiana University School of Medicine is available and will be commensurate with experience and academic interests.

Competitive compensation and generous benefits through Indiana University School of Medicine; retirement, relocation, vacation, CME, quality bonus potential.

Qualifications
  • Completion of pediatric residency and neonatal‑perinatal medicine fellowship
  • BE/BC in pediatrics and neonatal‑perinatal medicine
  • Physician MD/DO licensed in or eligible for Indiana license
  • New graduates and experienced providers encouraged to apply
