Join the Notre Dame team as an Ameri Corps Member serving in the Moreau College Initiative (MCI) at Westfield Correctional Facility. This role supports a college‑in‑prison program that offers AA and BA degree courses to incarcerated students.
About Notre Dame and MCIThe University of Notre Dame is a mission‑driven community dedicated to excellence in education, research, and service. The Robinson Community Learning Center (RCLC) supports community learning initiatives, including MCI, which collaborates with Holy Cross College and the U.S. Department of Justice.
Responsibilities- Advance the mission of MCI by ensuring all conduct aligns with program goals and strengthens the partnership between Notre Dame and the correctional facility.
- Provide tutoring and academic support to MCI students during Study Hall hours on site.
- Coordinate logistics with the Westfield Correctional Facility administration in a consistent and transparent manner.
- Offer research and library support to students.
- Act as an academic tutor and may have teaching opportunities.
- Oversee special projects and collaborate with RCLC staff on special events.
- Attend weekly Ameri Corps meetings at RCLC.
- Living Allowance: bi‑monthly payments vary by Ameri Corps member status.
- Full‑time members receive a $21,000 living allowance for 1,700 service hours.
- Education Award:
Segal Ameri Corps Education Award for qualifying members; up to $7,395 for full‑time members. - Full‑time members receive Ameri Corps Health Insurance.
- Training and experience in education and workforce development.
- Possibility to earn Child and Youth Care Worker (CYC) Certification.
- Lead multiple projects.
- Work in a non‑profit setting and collaborate with community partners.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
Living stipend ranges from $4,000 to $21,000, varying by Ameri Corps status. Education awards range from $416 to $7,395 based on successful completion of the term.
ScheduleMonday–Friday; hours vary from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm based on Ameri Corps member status.
