Job DescriptionThe Instructor, Learning Lab is a clinically experienced subject matter expert who is responsible for facilitating student learning and performance assessment in on‑site Clinical Learning Labs. Student learning activities range from basic nursing skills to complex patient care scenarios via high‑fidelity simulation.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Serve as a professional role model for students in dress, communication, deportment, problem solving, care delivery, and patient advocacy.
- Demonstrate understanding of and participate in implementation of the nursing program’s goals.
- Communicate constructive feedback and maintain communication with the Supervisor, Lab Faculty.
- Use evidence‑based tools and measures to evaluate students’ clinical learning.
- Engage in teaching through demonstration, practice, and assistance.
- Facilitate student advancement through the performance of basic nursing skills and resolution of patient care situations via simulation.
- Assist students with application of clinical judgment, critical thinking, and nursing process.
- Promote a safe learning experience and support quality improvement.
- Assume additional duties as assigned.
- Problem solving and ability to involve partners.
- Interpersonal skills: respectful, empathetic, conflict‑resolution.
- Accuracy and reliability in following protocols.
- Adaptability to diverse teaching situations.
- Initiative and strong commitment to student success.
- MSN required (contingent on State Board of Nursing regulations).
- Minimum 2+ years of professional nursing experience.
- Active RN license in the state of the lab location.
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise in assigned content area.
- Strong experience with distance education and distance learning students.
- Experience in simulation‑based education.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- On‑site only role; variable hours.
- Flexibility in working with changing groups of students in a variety of locales.
