This position supports students with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism at Damar Charter Academy. The Teacher will deliver instruction, support IEP goals, conduct assessments, and manage classroom behavior.

• Develop and implement standards‑based IEPs and daily, weekly class lesson plans.
• Teach students to acquire academic, self‑help, daily living, and social skills as specified in the IEP.
• Complete reports on IEP goals, skills, and classroom performance for each student.
• Conduct state assessments (ISTAR, ISTEP) and other specific assessments (WIAT‑II, ABAS‑II, CBC, WRAT, CBMs, FBAs).
• Observe, record, and report student behavior and maintain daily records.
• Direct support staff within the classroom to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Implement behavior management plans to reduce maladaptive behaviors and promote appropriate social behaviors.
• Respond to and manage crisis situations, including student physical aggression.
• Complete incident reports and report suspected exploitation, abuse, or neglect.
• Update Harmony Student Information System and utilize IDOE learning connection.
• Adhere to all Damar policies and procedures and complete mandatory training.

• Bachelor’s degree in education and a teaching license required. Special Education license preferred.
• Experience in Special Education desired.
• Highly Qualified status required (ability to fulfill Highly Qualified requirements within 3 years).
• Minimum age 21 and valid Indiana driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Successful completion of pre‑employment physical and required background screening.

• Starting Salary: $38,000 – $70,000 per year.
