- Valid Teacher License (or interest in a licensure program)
- 1+ years of experience working with children in an education setting
- Competency in using technology in the classroom setting
- Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
- Strong desire to work within an innovative, urban educational program
- Support of SPED Teacher is main responsibility, which includes:
- Writes goals and objectives for IEPs using state’s special education software, such as ISTAR
- Administers and interprets individual formal and informal assessments and measures student achievement of, and progress toward, their objectives and goals
- Participates in IEP meetings and provides necessary documentation, as requested
- Provides progress reports to parents as stated in the IEP, maintains timely communication with all parents/guardians concerning student progress
- Uses the state standards and curriculum to create rigorous, objective-driven, arts-infused lessons aligned with curriculum maps
- Differentiates for individual students based on their unique learning needs
- Develops standards-aligned, measurable, ambitious big goals that will increase student opportunities for achievement
- Implements classroom procedures, systems, and routines that provide structure for students and maximize instructional time
- Uses data to reflect on the effectiveness of lessons and student progress to improve instruction
- Encourages parent and community involvement and maintains timely communication
- Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintains cooperative and effective working relationships
- Uses feedback from the Principal and Director of Instruction to update the Individual Professional Development Plan
