High School Lead SPED Teacher
Reports to VCP High School Principal

The best candidates for this position will embody the values and beliefs at the heart of the VCP mission and vision.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Teaching License in Special Education
- Ability to be a TOR
- 2-3 years experience working with diverse student populations (Strongly preferred)
- Knowledge of No-Nonsense Nurturer/or 4-Step Model for student behavior management helpful, but not required
- Familiarity with state law regarding IEP’s and students in a SPED environment
- Able to proactively build meaningful, positive relationships with all students
- Eagerness and ability to receive and implement feedback from manager, coach, and/or peers
- Ability to be punctual and have a strong attendance record
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) with specific goals; when needed, support in evaluating students who may need special education services
- Provide push-in and/or pull-out instruction for students with IEPs
- Utilize the most current SPED practices that cultivate success for the needs of individual and groups of students
- Regularly assess, track, and/or monitor a students’ progress toward IEP goals
- Use data to reflect on student achievement progress in order to improve instruction and teaching practice
- Lead conferences and meetings with students’ families, general education teachers, and school leaders
- Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, special education teachers and assistants to support students with IEPs
- Collaborate regularly with the Behavior Support team and school leaders to address student emotional and mental well being and needs
- Communicate frequently and effectively with student families; promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
- Uses restorative practices to build positive student culture
