What We Are Seeking

The best candidates for this position will embody the values and beliefs at the heart of the VCP mission and vision.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Teaching License in Special Education
  • Ability to be a TOR
  • 2-3 years experience working with diverse student populations (Strongly preferred)
  • Knowledge of No-Nonsense Nurturer/or 4-Step Model for student behavior management helpful, but not required
  • Familiarity with state law regarding IEP’s and students in a SPED environment
  • Able to proactively build meaningful, positive relationships with all students
  • Eagerness and ability to receive and implement feedback from manager, coach, and/or peers
  • Ability to be punctual and have a strong attendance record
What This Role Will Accomplish
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) with specific goals; when needed, support in evaluating students who may need special education services
  • Provide push-in and/or pull-out instruction for students with IEPs
  • Utilize the most current SPED practices that cultivate success for the needs of individual and groups of students
  • Regularly assess, track, and/or monitor a students’ progress toward IEP goals
  • Use data to reflect on student achievement progress in order to improve instruction and teaching practice
  • Lead conferences and meetings with students’ families, general education teachers, and school leaders
  • Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, special education teachers and assistants to support students with IEPs
  • Collaborate regularly with the Behavior Support team and school leaders to address student emotional and mental well being and needs
  • Communicate frequently and effectively with student families; promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
  • Uses restorative practices to build positive student culture
