English Teacher at DeKalb High School

This position will be from approximately January 21, 2027through April 9, 2027.

Your day to day:

• Under direction, you will teach and instruct students inhigh school level english.
• Plan, develop, organize, and conduct a comprehensive education program for secondary students.
• Create and maintain an environment that fosters student achievement and the development of lifelong skills
• Maximize opportunities for student success by creating positive working relationships with students and staff.
• Actively participate in the establishment of policies and procedures that make sense for this unique teaching and learning environment.
• Remain flexible, innovative, and adaptive to change.
• Show confidence in working with new technology and various application packages.
• Be a role model for students regarding life-long learning and professional behavior
• Perform other related functions as required.

• You have worked hard to obtain a bachelor’s degree or higher in education, english, a subject matter commonly taught in grades 9-12, or closely related field.
• You have successfully completed student teaching at an accredited college or university.
• You have obtained a license as a teacher.
• You are a creative thinker and problem solver, an excellent communicator with strong collaboration skills and are a team player.
• You can demonstrate proficient use of technology.
• You have knowledge of the principles, theories, methods, techniques, and strategies pertaining to teaching and instruction of secondary grade students.
• You possess an understanding of behavior management and behavior shaping strategies, techniques and methods, and conflict resolution procedures.
• You understand the socio-economic and cultural background differences of the general school population.
