About the Role:

The full-time anatomy & physiology faculty position is necessary to maintain the subject-matter expertise for our department, which runs 54-57 sections each Fall and Spring term, and 27 sections last summer.. This person will coordinate an anatomy course, mentor anatomy & physiology adjunct faculty, and work with the lab technician team. While our department has worked to recruit new adjunct faculty each semester, we are still able to meet the demand for APHY classes.

With the planned increase in Nursing and Health Sciences majors, the demand for APHY classes will only increase.

Major Responsibilities:

INSTRUCTION Deliver assigned classes using pedagogy and technology that best support student learning, and in accordance with college loading policy, course objectives and program learning outcomes.

Use Learning Management System (e.g. Canvas) to facilitate teaching, learning, assessment and communication.

Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and other course materials.

Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and other documentation as required. Maintain a safe, quality classroom/ lab, including equipment, supplies, inventory and maintenance.

Willingness to teach at any of the campuses within the region:
Plainfield and Downtown.

RETENTION AND STUDENT SUCCESSMonitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions to include communication with students, tutoring and other academic supports, and referrals to appropriate college resources.

Maintain posted office hours and student engagement hours in accordance with regional expectations and the faculty loading policy in the Academic Support and Operations Manual (ASOM 7.2).Promote and assist in student recruitment, retention, and successful completion of programs, including outreach to students by phone, technology tools, and other electronic means.
