The Near Eastside Innovation School Corporation is seeking Classroom Assistants who will support students by promoting mastery of grade-level content, addressing individual learning, passions, and developmental needs, and preparing students to become productive members of society.

Classroom assistants facilitate the school's Personalized Learning model by:

• Supporting a student-driven learning path that incorporates student choice and student needs, allowing differentiation of pace, path, place, and modality
• Ensuring students follow a structured learning pathway that lets them master skills at their own pace, using data to track mastery, give actionable feedback, and plan supports and interventions
• Participating as members of vertically aligned, multi-grade teams, supporting both the individual classroom and all students in the multi-grade team through flexible groupings
• Working with colleagues to plan and implement project-based, authentic learning experiences, including supervising and instructing students in enrichment experiences such as library skills, book checkout, technology/keyboarding, and cooperative play

Professional responsibilities include demonstrating solid knowledge of content; learning students' backgrounds, cultures, skills, and interests and applying that in instruction; cultivating an environment of respect and rapport; managing classroom procedures and student behavior to maximize instructional time; communicating clear instructional outcomes; using questioning and discussion to deepen understanding; engaging students in small group, whole group, and individual settings; using formative assessment;

maintaining instructional records; and contributing to the professional community.

Employment period: ten months, aligned with the school calendar.

• Valid background check
• 60+ college credit hours or a passing score on the Para Pro exam
• School-based experience: 1 year

• Valid Indiana teacher's license in elementary education
• Bachelor's degree
• Experience working in urban education
• Bilingual Spanish

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour (hourly position, competitive based on qualifications and previous experience)

Near Eastside Innovation School Corporation (NEISC) was approved by the Indianapolis Public Schools Board in 2017 to serve students on the city's Near Eastside. It operates Thomas Gregg Neighborhood School and Washington Irving Neighborhood School, preparing students through a whole-child approach that includes two-generational support, social/emotional development, and personalized learning.
