About Legal Prep

Legal Prep Indianapolis opened in August 2026 and is growing into a full 6–12 school. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced school leader to guide that growth, build a strong team and school culture, and bring Legal Prep's proven educational model to life in Indianapolis.

At Legal Prep, students take law courses across grade levels and participate in skills-based programming with law firms, judges, corporate legal departments, and other community partners. Our work is grounded in Leadership, Perseverance, Character, and Advocacy—values that should be visible in how adults lead, students learn, and the school serves families.

Position Overview

The Principal leads the academic program, school culture, staff development, enrollment efforts, and daily operations. This is a visible, hands-on role for an experienced leader who sets clear expectations, develops others, solves problems proactively, and follows through on commitments.

Working with the Head of Schools, school leadership team, and Legal Prep Network, the Principal establishes measurable goals, monitors progress, and adjusts strategies based on evidence. Success requires improved student outcomes and sustainable systems that support students, families, and staff.

Legal Prep has an established academic model, curriculum, policies, and operating systems. We are seeking an experienced leader who can implement these systems with fidelity, develop staff capacity to execute them consistently, and work collaboratively with network leadership to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Leadership: Ensure high-quality implementation of Legal Prep's curriculum and instructional model, including classroom observations, coaching, professional development, and data-driven instructional improvement.
  • School Culture: Establish and maintain a safe, supportive, high-expectations environment through consistent implementation of school wide culture, behavior, and student-support systems.
  • Staff Leadership: Recruit, develop, evaluate, and retain effective teachers and staff while building a collaborative, accountable leadership team.
  • Enrollment and Family Engagement: Lead school wide efforts to recruit, enroll, and retain students; build strong family relationships; and meet established enrollment goals.
  • Operations and Accountability: Maintain accountability for effective school operations, working with campus operations staff and network leadership to ensure reliable daily systems, fiscal responsibility, regulatory compliance, and student safety.
What Success Looks Like

A successful Principal builds a school where strong systems do not depend on constant intervention from the Principal. Teachers understand what excellent instruction looks like. Students and families experience clear, shared expectations. Staff know their responsibilities and are accountable for results. Enrollment is strong, daily operations are reliable, and challenges are identified and addressed proactively.

Qualifications Required
  • Current Indiana school administrator licensure or eligibility to obtain appropriate Indiana licensure.
  • Successful teaching experience.
  • Significant, successful experience as a principal, assistant principal, or senior school administrator, including direct responsibility for instructional leadership, staff management, and school wide systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement established academic, cultural, and operational systems effectively while exercising sound judgment, collaborating with network leadership, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Evidence of improving student learning through instructional leadership, staff coaching, and data-informed decision-making.
