Master Operator Tech

Job Summary

Master Operator Tech will oversee daily operation of the eight primary gas and oil fired boilers, generators, water treatment, and incoming high voltage electric feeders to the steam plant. The successful candidate will communicate with Covanta to maximize steam output and maintain the 600, 400, and 250 pound steam header pressures. The candidate will field telephone calls from steam customers regarding steam pressure and temperature concerns and relay that information to the appropriate person for resolution.

• Oversee daily operations of gas and oil fired boilers, generators, plant switch gear, water treatment, and environmental equipment.
• Communicate with Covanta to maintain required steam demands while keeping fuel cost to a minimum.
• Communicate with steam customers on steam pressure and temperature concerns and relay that information to the appropriate person for resolution.
• Monitor plant operations, quality of steam, environmental compliance, and maintain plant equipment.
• Coordinate fuel usage, steam line outages, plant maintenance, and equipment overhaul with appropriate personnel.
• Reporting and record keeping, including recording information into shift log, entering data from Covanta, and work orders.
• Follow established procedures and develop new procedures using Microsoft Office Applications.
• Perform other operational job duties as needed.
• Provide technical and operational guidance to employees as needed.

• High school diploma or equivalent (Machinist Mate of Boiler Technician) or technical training in a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of five years of power plant experience, steam systems experience including steam-driven turbines and boilers is required.
• Microsoft Office experience and skills required.
• Previous supervisory experience is also preferred.

Minimum Salary $59,700 (Grade
7)
