About the role

Overview

International is seeking a Senior Test Engineer-Traton R&D US, LLC in the Vehicle Dynamics Group. This position focuses on vehicle-level steering system development and validation testing. Projects will be run on prototype class 5-8 commercial trucks and buses at the International Proving Grounds in New Carlisle, IN. The Senior Test Engineer will work within the global Traton Research and Development team to provide input on tests and requirements and to execute the test plan.

You will conduct vehicle-level development testing, data collection, data analysis, and data reporting and documentation. You will assess vehicle performance and steering system performance and participate in tuning the steering system to achieve desired performance.

Responsibilities
  • Coordination of test vehicle preparation including component upfit and instrumentation
  • In-vehicle testing on three-mile oval track and vehicle dynamic areas using data acquisition
  • Driving commercial trucks and buses to perform defined vehicle maneuvers
  • Work alongside design responsible engineers and component suppliers to achieve desired vehicle performance
  • Validating vehicle and system performance according to defined requirements
  • Perform data analysis under the guidance of the technical engineer
  • Clearly and concisely communicate and present test results. Document data and results in written reports
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
  • At least 2 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
Additional Requirements
  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
Desired Skills
  • Knowledge in vehicle dynamics and steering system testing and performance, including driver assist features (LKA, LC), hydraulic power assist, torque overlay, and EPS systems
  • Knowledge with testing practices, instrumentation, and data acquisition
  • Ability to tune active steering systems
  • CDL or ability to obtain a CDL
  • Ability to travel less than 25%
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent Communication Skills - both written and verbal
