Structural Engineer, Civil Engineering
PWI is looking for a dependable Structural Engineer – PE. We need someone smart and experienced to handle the heavy lifting—literally—for our industrial projects. If you know steel, know your codes, and take pride in designs that are safe and built to last, this role is for you. As a Structural Engineer at PWI, you will take ownership of the analysis, design, and stamped documentation for crane‑supporting structures, mezzanines, and engineered safety systems.
You will use your expertise to create solutions that meet code, perform reliably, and reflect the craftsmanship and quality PWI is known for.
- Crane-Supporting Structures
- Perform structural analysis and design of runway girders & beams, including fatigue analysis, lateral loads, impact, and skewing forces.
- Design crane-supporting columns under combined compression, biaxial bending, and torsion, including bracket plates, stiffeners, and lateral stability.
- Design and specify bolted and welded connections for load transfers.
- Design foundations for eccentric loads, uplift, braking forces, and wind/seismic demands.
- Conduct full structural analysis, including determination of gravity and lateral loads and design of beams, joists, decking, and supporting members.
- Design moment connections and pinned connections using appropriate AISC methodologies.
- Perform serviceability checks, including deflection and vibration analysis.
- Safety Systems
- Design engineered fall protection, including horizontal lifelines and anchor systems per ANSI/OSHA, ensuring structural compatibility with required arrest forces.
- Documentation & Analysis
- Prepare sealed calculation packages and construction documents in compliance with IBC and local amendments.
- Utilize RISA-3D or similar FEA software for analysis and verification.
- Produce drawings, calculations, and documentation that meet PWI and regulatory standards.
- Cross‑Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with project management, sales, fabrication, and installation teams.
