Overview
WSP is searching for an Environmental Engineer to work remotely from northern Indiana while based in the Indianapolis office. The role is part of the Earth & Environment Team and involves technical and field work on multimedia site investigations and remediation projects for energy clients.
Responsibilities- Perform environmental sampling (surface water, groundwater, soil, sediment, soil vapor, indoor air) and oversee subcontractors in the field.
- Complete detailed field notes and documentation to accurately capture field activities and observations.
- Work 70% of the time in the field with travel that may include weeks at a time or a few days per week and overnight stays.
- Assist and coordinate project planning with labs, drillers, and equipment vendors as needed.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, clients, regulators, and on‑site personnel both verbally and in writing.
- Work independently as a self‑starter and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment with multiple tasks.
- B.S. in Environmental Engineering or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in environmental sampling, site investigation, or remediation.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must be organized, detail‑oriented, and able to lift 50 pounds.
- Pass a HAZWOPER physical, wear a tight‑fitting respirator, and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
- OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification is required.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel, including overnight stays.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Experience using and maintaining field equipment (e.g., groundwater pumps, field meters).
- Regulatory experience in Indiana and Michigan.
