System Engineer – Electric Utility
Join NPAworldwide as a System Engineer to support engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance functions within our electric distribution system. This position focuses on SCADA operations, AMI system management, and system protection and design. The ideal candidate will be technically strong, detail‑oriented, and excited to work with a broad range of technologies to improve the reliability, scalability, and performance of utility operations.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the development of long‑ and short‑term system work plans and sectionalizing studies
- Analyze equipment specifications and performance requirements
- Support load studies, voltage drop analysis, fault current analysis, and system improvements
- Maintain system records and collaborate with third‑party engineering consultants
- Design, implement, and maintain SCADA systems for real‑time monitoring and control
- Troubleshoot and resolve SCADA hardware, software, and communication issues
- Monitor performance, apply patches, and ensure system security and compliance
- Integrate SCADA with other automation and enterprise systems
- Oversee installation, testing, and maintenance of AMI meters and devices
- Monitor and analyze AMI data, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting
- Troubleshoot connectivity and data discrepancies
- Collaborate with IT, operations, and field teams to optimize AMI integration
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to achieve operational goals
- Implement cybersecurity measures to protect systems and data
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and industry standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Power Systems
- Distribution engineering experience in an electric utility setting preferred
- Strong computer and technical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Valid Indiana Driver’s (or ability to obtain)
- CPR and First Aid certification required
