Position Description

Comprehensive oversight of energy management activities (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, and Thermal) on construction project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee, review, and approve complex energy management work permits and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure comprehensive review.
  • Serve as driver of decision making that impacts implementation of energization on project.
  • Lead and/or participate in root cause analysis for incidents, engage with subcontractors and Turner leadership on decision making for dispute resolution.
  • Oversee subcontractor development and verify step‑by‑step job site processes and approvals on work permits prior to commencing work.
  • Establish program to educate and validate each project team’s understanding and use of Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) program; oversee and ensure adherence to LOTO activities on every project.
  • Verify controlled access processes for energized rooms and systems for project.
  • Verify qualifications and competence of staff designated to manage energy high‑risk activities (e.g., Live‑Dead‑Live (LDL), Infrared Scanning).
  • Develop and conduct electrical safety training orientation for equipment technicians on project and perform regular assessments of application and implementation on project.
  • Verify establishment and tracking of accurate and up‑to‑date complex single line diagrams on project.
  • Oversee and verify established processes and procedures to ensure required criteria are in place prior to start‑up, switching, or any other commissioning (Cx) activities.
  • Create supportive environment to develop high performing teams, provide professional development opportunities, and engage in coaching and mentoring relationships.
  • May manage director reports and participate in hiring process, onboard and deliver timely performance feedback for direct reports, execute/contribute to performance appraisals during annual performance cycle, utilize talent management systems, and identify appropriate training to help with development needs.
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 15 years of applicable electrical trades experience in control of energy (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, and Thermal), or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
    Bachelor’s degree from accredited program a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and practices, and Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace (70E).
  • Advance knowledge of MEP systems.
  • Ability to interpret complex one‑line drawings and diagrams for MEP systems.
  • Ability to interpret contract documents, owner project requirements, drawings, specifications, system schematics, sequence of operations, MEP scopes of work and project schedule.
  • Capable of managing multiple complex issues and tasks successfully to completion.
  • Excellent business acumen and critical thinking skills to assess and solve problems and conflicts.
  • Advanced interpersonal communication, professional presentation, and persuasion skills with ability to confidently engage and influence decision making.
  • Able to build engaging partnerships with team and organizational stakeholders through trust, teamwork, and direct communication.
Physical Demands

Climb permanent and temporary stairs, use hoists, climb ladders, negotiate work areas under construction; sit, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands; talk, and hear. Frequently sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects; frequently view a computer monitor and use a computer keyboard.

Regularly lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

Work at construction sites with moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock; moderate to loud noise. Occasionally work in office or remote setting; quiet to moderate office noise. Required to comply with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
