Join our dynamic BIM team as a Lidar Scanning Technician, where you'll play a vital role in shaping the future of our projects! In this exciting position, you will travel nationally to diverse client sites, utilizing cutting‑edge Lidar-based 3D laser scanning technology to capture and analyze existing field conditions. Your expertise will directly contribute to delivering high‑quality project data and solutions, making a significant impact on our clients' success.
- Work closely with the project manager to ensure the efficient processing of 3D laser scan data, providing critical insights to support project deliverables
- Conduct daily field data capture and preprocessing of 3D Lidar data, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Provide office staff with notes on field data that was acquired
- Collaborate with the project manager to tackle complex challenges and develop innovative solutions
- Demonstrate SAM's vision and mission, while successfully performing its core values related to employees, ethics, operational excellence, safety, integrity and corporate social responsibility
- Perform other tasks as assigned to help accomplish SAM's strategic goals
- Travel nationally to job sites up to 100% of the time
- 1-3+ years of laser scanning experience is preferred, but not required - we are open to training motivated candidates
- Proficient in technical field skills
- Proven work history, strong work ethic and team‑player attitude
- Interest in or exposure to 3D laser scanning technology - Nav Vis, Leica, FARO, Trimble
- Experience with Revit or AutoCAD is a plus but not required
- Ability to interpret and understand 2D floor plans effectively
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to document and describe existing field conditions
- Willingness to learn new tools and technologies in a fast‑paced field environment
