Piping Designer

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Piping Designer to join our consulting engineering team. This role involves designing and drafting piping systems, including utilities, chemical, steam, condensate, cooling water, compressed air, and process gas lines for industrial facilities such as automotive, chemical, food and beverage, and more. The ideal candidate will have experience with 3D modeling software and a strong understanding of piping codes, materials, and layout principles.

• Develop piping layouts and isometric drawings using CAD software.
• Collaborate with engineers to interpret project specifications and process flow diagrams (PFDs and P&IDs).
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.
• Coordinate with other disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical) to resolve design conflicts.
• Perform field visits to gather data and verify existing conditions.
• Support construction and procurement teams with accurate documentation and material take-offs.

• 4 years of industrial piping design experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D or 3D.
• Familiarity with ANSI and API piping codes.

• Technical degree.
• Experience with process gas lines like hydrogen and carbon dioxide.

The office is located just off of 86th and near 465. It is a typical engineering office with cubicles and offices. The dress code is business casual to casual, allowing jeans and a polo, but not tennis shoes and tee shirts. Working hours are flexible, starting between 7-8 AM and ending between 3:30-5 PM, with a typical 40-hour work week. This is an in-office role with a laid-back group.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

The pay range for this position is $31.25 – $43.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. This is a fully onsite position in Indianapolis, IN.
