We are looking for an experienced Process Safety Engineer to support the rapid startup of new Lilly API/Dry Product sites. The role will provide technical execution, coaching, and operational excellence support during site ramp‑up.
Position OverviewThe Lilly API/Dry Product Network (ADN) is expanding with several new greenfield sites. These sites require full‑scale, steady‑state production, with additional surge capacity to accelerate startup. The ADN RAMP (Rapid Access to Medicines for Patients) team brings manufacturing expertise to support each site’s start‑up and future ramp.
Key Objectives & Deliverables- Provide process safety engineering support to the Global Facility Delivery team and the Site Health Safety and Environmental Team.
- Partner with site engineering and HSE to increase capacity for operational readiness, C&Q support, on‑floor process support, document reviews, and change controls.
- Support the rollout of PSM elements such as employee participation, Management of Change, Pre‑Startup Safety Review, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), etc.
- Train, mentor, and onboard staff to build a strong process safety culture.
- Coach local technical teams to accelerate operational excellence and technical proficiency.
- Apply root cause analysis to investigate process safety and equipment issues and deliver corrective and preventative actions.
- Maintain safety foundations for process equipment.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related field; PCCPs or PE preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of process safety, OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to influence without authority.
- Strong analytical skills and structured approach.
- Coaching ability.
- Clarity in simplifying complex issues.
- Willingness to work off‑shift hours for project milestones and training.
- Facilitator in Process Hazard Analysis, HAZOP, and What‑If methodologies.
- Trained in Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
- Knowledge of EPA Risk Management Plan.
- Trust building with peers and leaders.
The ADN RAMP team supports multiple new API/Dry Product sites across the U.S. and internationally. Significant travel and possible short‑term assignments may be required.
