Position: WASTER WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR with Security Clearance
Location: Crane

Duties Help
* You will read chemical procedures to determine methods for treating industrial waste.
* You will observe gauges, lights, charts, telemetering devices, alarms, and other equipment controlling the distribution of water.
* You will perform tests (e.g., standard jar, ion concentration [pH] tests) and record results in standardized reports.
* You will operate major pumping stations of a collection system for industrial and domestic wastewater. Requirements Help Conditions of employment

* Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
* Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

* You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Class D wastewater treatment plant certification.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination and annually thereafter.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* May be required to carry a duty phone.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* Crawling over and inside machines may be required. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible.

The Screen-out Element for this position is:
1) Maintain plant logs, laboratory records, and quality control records to document operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant;
2) Operate valves, pumps, adjust waste/return sludge quantities and aeration feed rates to maintain biological process, maintain effluent limits;
3) Aid in the supervision of wastewater treatment and sanitary sewer collection system;
4) Observe readings on gauges, meters, detectors, recorders, or computer generated and analog displays to detect issues in treatment operations.
