The Environmental Engineer reviews air permit applications from various industries and drafts permit approvals for the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. The role requires writing enforceable permit conditions that comply with state and federal air pollution laws, researching guidance documents, and coordinating with compliance and enforcement staff. The position works with minimal direct supervision in the Permit Review Section of the Office of Air Quality.
Keyqualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college
- Four years of engineering work experience
- Broad knowledge of environmental sciences relating to air pollution and its control
- Excellent research, writing, mathematics, and technical skills
- Ability to establish relationships with IDEM staff, EPA staff, company representatives, and the public
- Effective oral and written communication skills
