Executive Director of Tax & Reporting

Under the direction of the Assistant Controller, the Executive Director of Tax and Reporting is responsible for monitoring gifts, designated sponsored programs, and other accounts, preparing and entering transactions into the College’s accounting system, ensuring tax compliance, supporting campus business office staff, and preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, the Executive Director partners with the Assistant Controller in creating the financial statements and annual report.
The Executive Director of Tax and Reporting develops and uses data to monitor primary accounting internal controls.
- Coordinate with campus staff and the external CPA firm to facilitate the preparation of the annual tax Form 990-T.
- Monitor Form 1099 reportable transactions and prepare the annual Form 1099 tax filings.
- Prepare Form 1098-C annually for reportable donations received by the College.
- Monitor transactions with foreign vendors to ensure proper tax withholding and Form 1042 reporting.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the College regarding tax regulations and compliance.
- Research changes to accounting standards impacting the College, develop an implementation plan, and implement changes to ensure compliance.
- Investigate and analyze complex accounting transactions in support of College programs and projects.
- Coordinate activities with the ED of Sponsored Programs and Grants Compliance to ensure that financial and reporting activities occur as prescribed by generally accepted accounting standards.
- Prepare and enter transactions into the College’s accounting system, including journal entries and labor redistributions.
- Serve as a point of contact for Systems Office staff regarding College accounting policies and procedures.
- Develop reporting and monitor internal controls for College accounting procedures to verify their effectiveness and propose improvements.
- In collaboration with the Controller and Assistant Controller, direct the annual independent audit and other compliance audits, including preparation of supporting documentation, work papers, schedules, and account analysis for audit purposes.
- Assist in preparing financial reporting sections of external reports, including grant financial reports, annual HLC updates, IPEDS, National Community College Benchmarking Project, and NACUBO.
- Assist in preparing journal entries, statements, and related notes for the College’s annual financial report and preliminary financial statements.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives using Agile principles.
- Contribute to team and campus development by actively participating in College training sessions and work groups.
- Serve as backup on check, month‑end reporting, and daily banking processes.
- Serve as backup to the Executive Director of Accounting to ensure proper fixed asset reporting.

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements- A Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field is required. Also, candidates must hold either a CPA license or a Master’s degree in a business‑related discipline.
- Three or more years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, tax, and/or budgeting is required.
- The ability to work effectively with internal and external constituents is necessary.
- Excellent communication, planning, problem‑solving, organization, project management, and customer service are required.
- The ability to analyze, interpret, and implement College policy and procedures is required.
