Partnership Manager, Tax – BDO USA
The Partnership Manager, Tax is responsible for providing tax and consulting services to our Pass‑Through clients.
Job SummaryProvide comprehensive tax planning, preparation, research, and advisory services for Pass‑Through entities, ensuring compliance with tax laws, firm standards, and client objectives.
Responsibilities- Perform tax planning, preparation, and research for Pass‑Through businesses; manage client engagements and supervise team staff.
- Write up books and records and compose written tax advice or responses to IRS inquiries.
- Contribute to client satisfaction by delivering timely services and work products.
- Demonstrate an understanding of tax concepts and actively pursue increased tax knowledge through client assignments and current developments.
- Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
- Conduct top‑level review of tax returns, resolve issues with clients, and involve specialists when appropriate.
- Communicate issues identified in tax accrual reviews with both clients and Assurance teams.
- Plan and review the tax process and procedures, including budgeting, staffing, engagement monitoring, timely billing, and collection of accounts‑receivable.
- Manage client relationships and expectations in accordance with project objectives.
- Provide timely advice to clients.
- Research:
- Identify when research is needed and clearly frame issues for investigation.
- Apply firm and professional standards for prepared written tax advice and returns.
- Involve firm specialists when appropriate.
- Strategy Development:
- Introduce and develop new or improved ideas to enhance client positions, firm performance, and personnel efficiency.
- Review studies of tax implications and offer alternative courses of action.
- Leverage lessons learned from prior projects and provide input on process improvements.
- Other duties as required.
- Build and train a team of professionals to serve high‑net‑worth clients.
- Supervise associates and senior associates on all projects.
- Review work prepared by associates and senior associates, providing comments and feedback.
- Train associates and seniors on current software tools.
- Act as a career advisor for associates and senior associates.
- Schedule and manage the workload of team members.
- Provide verbal and written performance feedback.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a relevant field (required).
- Master’s degree in Taxation (preferred).
- Five (5) or more years of public accounting experience with private‑client Tax/Consulting assignments.
- CPA certification (required).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detailed oriented with strong analytical, research, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong delegation skills and executive presence.
- Expertise in subchapter K, Targeted Capital Account Agreements, and related tax provisions (704(b), 704(c), 734, 743, 752).

- Minnesota: $90,000–$120,000
- New Jersey: $115,000–$140,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $125,000–$160,000
- Washington: $95,000–$125,000
- Washington DC: $120,000–$140,000
