About the Role
A growing, private equity-backed multi-site dental organization is seeking a strategic and hands-on Controller to oversee the company’s finance and accounting operations. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the private equity sponsor, this role is a unique opportunity to help scale a healthcare platform through operational rigor, enhanced reporting, and financial leadership.
This role is remote with weekly travel to the Indianapolis area (e.g., 1–2 days/week during onboarding; will taper over time). Candidates should be located within driving distance—including Indiana, Louisville, Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus (South), Lexington, Springfield, or Champaign-Urbana.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all accounting operations, including GL, A/R, A/P, payroll, financial reporting, budgeting, and tax compliance
- Build and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and scalable reporting systems
- Oversee monthly close and prepare financial reporting packages for executive leadership and the PE sponsor
- Partner with the CEO and clinic leaders to align financial reporting with business strategy and practice operations
- Own and manage cash flow forecasts, banking relationships, and financial planning efforts
- Supervise and develop accounting staff and evaluate team structure for long-term scalability
- Prepare reports and presentations for board meetings, executive reviews, and the private equity partner
- Collaborate with the PE sponsor on financial oversight, investor reporting, and growth initiatives
- Contribute financial leadership to integration efforts, M&A activity, and operational performance improvement
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance leadership roles
- Prior experience in a multi-site dental group or similar healthcare services organization is required
- Experience working with or reporting to private equity sponsors is strongly preferred
- Hands-on, detail-oriented leader with the ability to implement structure and build scalable processes
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence across clinical and corporate teams
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to Indianapolis during onboarding and as needed
Why This Role?
- Remote flexibility with structured travel expectations
- High-impact position with a direct line to the CEO and visibility to the PE sponsor
- Opportunity to shape and scale finance infrastructure for a growing healthcare platform
- Confidential search with expedited interview process
