Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility

As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility (PNJCF) promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re‑entry. The Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility is a maximum‑security correctional facility for juvenile males.

Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility is located in Pendleton, Indiana. The Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility is a campus‑like structure, consisting of housing units, medical, food, and laundry services. The Programs building accommodates Providence Jr. /Sr. High School, indoor recreational facilities, and a chapel. There are outdoor recreational areas within the fenced perimeter, including baseball diamonds, volleyball courts, basketball courts, and a quarter‑mile walking and running track.

Additionally, the facility includes a housing area for special management and behaviorally challenged youths.

Role Overview

This role serves as the facility’s policy coordinator, grievance specialist, PREA coordinator, legal liaison, security coordinator, and public information officer. It ensures compliance with IDOC policies, ACA accreditation standards, PREA requirements, and regulatory agency rules while communicating policy updates and maintaining accurate electronic records. The position oversees youth grievances, supports facility security systems, assists with investigations and legal matters, and works closely with the warden and external agencies.

Additionally, it manages public communications by responding to media inquiries and maintaining the facility’s social media presence.

Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life
  • Monitor key performance indicators to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and monitoring all policies and procedures related to the program area.
  • Answer customer questions about program policies and procedures.
  • Act as technical consultant to stakeholders to clarify and interpret policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and disseminate monthly and annual program reports.
  • Review the budget and program assets are allocated appropriately.
  • Monitor compliance and make recommendations to the program to increase efficiencies.
  • Prepare training materials and train agency employees on program requirements and usage.
  • Deliver communication plans and communications.
  • Serve as a liaison between agency and other state and federal agencies.
  • Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
  • Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.
