Laboratory Technician

Base pay range: $23.00/hr - $25.00/hr

• Prepare sterile media using autoclaves, media claves, Sterilize in Place (SIP) reactors and other sterilization technologies.
• Weigh, sterilize, and dispense media into various containers (plates, flasks, bottles) using automated liquid handlers and peristaltic pumps, following SOPs and job aids.
• Apply sterile and aseptic handling techniques throughout all processes.
• Quality Control: Perform quality checks on prepared media, including streaking plates, measuring pH, and inspecting for contamination via microscopy.
• Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and order necessary chemicals and consumables.
• Identify, flag, and assist in troubleshooting process deviations and contamination events.
• Participate in projects aimed at enhancing laboratory operations and efficiency – these include better tracking of lab metrics, more efficient data capture and visualization and assisting in meeting mid- and long‑term operational efficiency goals for the lab.

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field is required.
• Experience with aseptic techniques (e.g., pipetting sterile media, pouring agar plates, working in biosafety cabinets or laminar flow hoods) is preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Excel; experience with statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP) preferred.
• Self‑motivated, able to thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
