AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a 100% employee‑owned federal government contractor, is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator with an active Top Secret clearance to support a mission‑critical classified program at Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division, IN. This role supports a secure, closed Linux enclave responsible for protecting and recovering highly sensitive mission data. The ideal candidate brings strong Red Hat Linux experience, enterprise system administration skills, and a desire to grow within a high‑trust, technically complex environment.

• Administer and support Red Hat Linux systems in a classified, closed enclave
• Provide Tier II operational support for production and development environments
• Monitor system performance, storage capacity, and availability
• Review logs, validate backups, and support recovery operations
• Develop and maintain scripts using BASH and Python
• Manage users, groups, permissions, and local repositories per RMF requirements
• Support secure data transfers and automation workflows
• Author and maintain SOPs, SCTMs, and RMF documentation
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to maintain compliance
• Coordinate with geographically separated partner sites
• Recommend system, process, and architecture improvements
• Mentor junior administrators and support team development

• Active Top Secret clearance
• 5-7 years of Linux systems administration experience in enterprise or mission‑critical environments
• Experience with Ansible, containerization (Podman/Docker), and OpenLDAP
• DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent)
• VMware vSphere 7.x+ experience
• BASH and Python scripting skills
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL
• Ability to obtain RHCSA within six months of hire
