Systems Administrator

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the company's network infrastructure and Windows server systems to ensure reliable and efficient operation.

Network Administration
  • Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and WAPs.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize network configurations for efficiency and security.
  • Manage VPNs and remote access solutions to ensure secure connectivity for users.
Windows Server Management
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Implement and manage server virtualization using technologies such as Hyper‑V or VMware.
  • Ensure system security through regular patching, updates, and compliance with best practices.
Support & Troubleshooting
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for network and server related issues, diagnosing problems and implementing solutions.
  • Support branch offices remotely and provide on‑site support as needed during travel.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for network configurations, server setups, and procedures.
Backup and Disaster Recovery
  • Implement and manage backup solutions for servers and critical data.
  • Develop and test disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
Security & Compliance
  • Implement and enforce security policies and procedures to protect organizational data and infrastructure.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, vulnerabilities, and best practices in networking and server management.
Essential Functions and Skills
  • Proactive nature with strong troubleshooting skills and a passion for technology.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a Systems Administrator with a focus on Enterprise Networking and Windows Server environments.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN) and security principles.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server administration and Active Directory management.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (Hyper‑V) is required.
  • Familiarity with technology vendors such as Sonic Wall, Dell, and Microsoft 365 is required.
  • Relevant certifications such as MS Certified, CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, etc are preferred.
  • Ability to travel primarily within the Midwest to support branch offices.
